Zayne’s Story

Zayne was born October 2025 at 30 weeks gestation. At birth, his lungs had only developed to 22 weeks and was on ventilator support for his first 4 months of life. Zayne would soon be diagnosed with tracheomalacia, severe bronchopulmonary dysplasia, and a rare genetic disorder known as CLTC. This disorder is caused by a deletion within the 17th chromosome. Zayne is one of less than 40 people in the world with this genetic condition. In January of 2026, he underwent surgery for a tracheotomy. After 159 days in the NICU, Zayne was transferred to the Transitional Care Center – a step forward in his journey to home. As his family prepared to welcome him home, Theo’s Gift was able to purchase a stroller for him that would accommodate all of his equipment and emergency supplies.
