Case’s Story

Case was born in May of 2025 to first time parents, Emily and Cody. After birth, everything seemed well with their little man, however, Emily began noticing something was “off” with his breathing and one day checked on him napping and found he had turned blue. Emily jumped into action and has been advocating for answers. Case has been sick with one thing or another for as long as his parents can remember and they were ready for answers.

After months of testing at Children’s hospital, Case was officially diagnosed with Tracheomalacia, a congenital condition in which the walls of the airway are weak or floppy, causing the airway to collapse during inhale and exhale. It is common for children with this condition to experience frequent infections and respiratory illnesses, prolonged recovery from illness, aspiration while feeding, and blue spells (lips or face turning blue) – all of which Case has experienced.

Case was also diagnosed with enlarged adenoids and in need of surgery. He has been in and out of the hospital for the last several months for various respiratory illness, has had over 10 ear infections and is not able to get his necessary surgery until he is well. Doctors advised Emily to take some time off work to help him recover and avoid additional illness. Emily had already taken off a significant amount of work due to his frequent hospital stays and doctor visits, so this was not an easy decision. Theo’s Gift was able to provide Case’s family with gas and Kroger cards to alleviate the financial strain of grocery costs and travel to and from the hospital while she is not able to work.

Despite Case’s frequent illness, he is the happiest boy and as his Auntie says, “always has a giggle in the chamber.” We love his resilience that shines through despite all he has been through in his 9 months of life. His parents are amazing advocates for him and we are grateful they have finally gotten answers. Please join us in praying for Case’s health, upcoming surgery, and strength for this beautiful family.
