Nova’s Story

Sweet Nova Sol was born on September 16, 2024 at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. She was diagnosed with a heart defect known as Double Outlet Right Ventricle and was admitted to Children’s CICU after her birth. On September 20, just days after her birth, she underwent her first open heart surgery to begin repairs to her heart. Due to complications after the surgery, she was put on ECMO to help her heart and body regain strength. During her time on ECMO she underwent several more procedures that were successful and she was able to be weaned off of the ECMO. Little Nova is a fighter and her heart and body continued to gain strength.  After 38 days in CICU she was finally able to go home with Mom, Dad, and big brother!

Nova’s heart defect requires multiple surgeries to fully repair and home was the best place for her to grow and get stronger, however, her journey to recovery had many ups and downs and several more (shorter) hospital stays. On July 24, 2025, Nova underwent her BIG surgery, a biventricular repair, to fully repair her heart. Her surgery was a success! Unfortunately, her road to recovery was another rocky one. What was supposed to be a two week recovery turned into almost a two month hospital stay due to multiple, unexpected complications. On September 14 she was finally able to go home! This time, however, she needs a little extra oxygen support so she was sent home with more equipment than expected.

Theo’s Gift had the honor of providing Nova’s family with a Wagon stroller that is large enough to store all her medical equipment and can comfortably fit both her and her big brother. We are excited for all the adventures they will get to have as a family!

Today, Nova is doing well and on the road to recovery! She still has a long way to go, so please join us in praying for Nova and her sweet family.
